We landed in New York around 11:00am. We got our luggage and got on the buses to the Sheraton in Times Square.
After getting settled at the hotel, we had dinner at Three Monkeys and shared a De Luxe hot dog and a lamb burger. After dinner we went to Times Square and Rockefeller Center. We really wanted to get front row at the show so we left earlier than the group. We started walking towards the venue and tried to get a cab. We never realized how hard it was to get a cab before! After blocks of walking and walking by the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, and Grand Central Staton, we finally got the cab.
We got to the Webster Hall and there were not that many people. We hopped in line behind people that had their tickets already. Once we got our tickets scanned we immediately went to the stage where other people dilly dallied around. We got to the front row!
DJ Congo Rock and DJ Reflex did their thing for everyone. Rihanna came around 10:30 and performed amazingly for her last and final show.
Once the show ended, the drummer, Chris Johnson, recognized us and handed Anne a drum stick. I then asked for a set list!
We left the venue and made our way towards Jay-Z’s 40/40 club.
We got into a line where our laminate badges would get us in. We got wrist bands and headed in! The club was pretty packed already. The walls were decorated with signed jerseys from all sorts of baseball, basketball, and football players and his Ace of Spades champagne bottles. We walked up to a VIP section where we got drinks. Then we walked up to some bouncers to get into an even more VIP room. This room had two sets of bouncers to get through. We waited by the second set of bouncers for a while before they let us in.
When we finally got in, we realized why they didnt let anyone in often. It was so hot and stuffy in the room from the amount of people in there. We found a chair and sat for a while and then Rihanna walked in!
We sat for a while until we realized she had already walked out into a super super VIP room that there was no way we could get into. The room started to clear out so we decided to just stay and hang out because how often do you get to get into the VIP room of Jay-Z’s 40/40 club? We met a girl named Malibu who fell in love with another girl from the trip and I because she was Vietnamese and Filipino and found out we were too. She brought her bottle service in with her to share with us.
We had such a great time at the club even though Rihanna was not there. They were closing and told us we had to leave. So we got a cab and headed back to the hotel. We grabbed some pizza from a place right next to us and brought it back into our room to eat. We felt pretty exhausted from the week so we decided to get some rest since we had to catch a flight that we could not be late for.
We woke up this morning and slowly got all of our stuff together to leave early since we had no idea how long it would take to get to the airport and through security since it is the day before thanksgiving.
We got to the check in and they offered us standby on the 11:30 flight instead of the 1:30 flight and we took it. So now we are on the plane ride home!
We got a lot of awesome pictures and video and Anne is going to edit them all together to make a short film on this whole experience. It will take awhile but it will hopefully be worth it and be an easy way to share it with everyone.
Despite getting sick, losing luggage, and being completely exhausted, this was still one of the best weeks of our lives. We met so many amazing people and experienced so many amazing things. We want to thank everyone involved at Def Jam, Universal Music Group, AMP Radio and of course Rihanna for making this dream come true. We hope everyone enjoyed following our journey across 7 countries in 7 days!!!!!!
